It’s finally our place. He’s very much into golf, sports, and bars, while I enjoy art, scrapbooking, nature and working out. He does most of the cooking. How should I balance his taste with mine while decorating? How do I not make the kitchen and bedroom too feminine? And what color towels do you suggest? Since we dont have a lot of money to spend, where are good places to buy inexpensive but pretty furniture?

Congrats on a place of your own! When my husband and I got our first place we had a terrible time deciding what to buy and wound up buying everything too dark. I would go neutral as possible with all furniture and add color with curtains, carpets, pillows and art. This way you can change it all without breaking the bank. As for towels I like white, other colors fade and look old way too quickly, but with a little bleach your white are always good as new. One thing that we also did was bought all of our kitchen tools, and accessories in stainless steel. It gave it a uniform look and not too kitchy. Then I was able again to add my fav color dish towels, vases of flowers, etc. Good luck and happy decorating.

Maybe check out a site called shabbyprincess.com I know there are different designers who post digital kits that people can download on there.. I don’t know how they get paid and whatnot though.

I think both would be great. I personally prefer non-digital, but to each his own. If your stuff is good, try out both ways. I think it would be great.

Head to your crafts store and find fun stickers or embellishments that are "manly". Is he into sport- use stickers of sporting goods.

Use darker colors- blues, greens, black instead of light colors and write on the pages with light colored markers of pens (white on black looks awesome).

You could also make your background for your pages out of magazines featuring things he likes such as sports or outdoor type scenes.

Just try to think about the things he likes and use the pages you create to reflect his personality!

I would say that most make less than $200 a month in sales. A very popular designer might make $3000 a month or more in sales. But keep in mind that that’s gross sales and doesn’t take into account business expenses. There are store fees and commissions, PayPal fees, server fees if the designer has her own store online, fees to for software and computer supplies.

I like to use them in my scrapbooking, but I get tired of plain stark white. How can I age, or stress, this card stock to give it some character?

Take a small sponge, like a make-up one, or one from a craft store. Smear it on an ink-pad, like brown, or tan,or any color really. Smear the ink on the paper in circular motions in the center and outward motions near the edge, so that the edge is slightly darker. It is a really neat effect, and you can do it once you get your paper cut down to your desired size and shape.
